Powering down batteries for seasonal storage
Proper long term storage preparation is critical to maintaining overall battery health and longevity. Leaving the TetraSki in a low state of charge for long periods of time will result in irreversible capacity loss, which isn’t covered by warranty.
Before seasonal storage, Tetradapt recommends that you manually power down your batteries via the left-side access door, at a state of charge somewhere between 70-100%.
At minimum, please make sure your TetraSki is charged up to 100% before putting it away for the winter. Even better, follow the instructions below to manually put the batteries in a deep-sleep state:
It may help to elevate the ski into loading height during this procedure
how to power down batteries
(1) On the left side of the control box (under the seat), unscrew the four Phillips screws that secure the battery door in place.
(2) Remove the door and rubber gasket. You should see two black buttons, one on top of the other.
(3) Using your screwdriver, carefully press each button until the LED next to the button turns RED, and then release the button. The LED will flash red again upon release to confirm.
(4) Make sure you power down both battery packs (top and bottom buttons) – only doing one will result in the pack voltages slowly becoming imbalanced from each other.
(5) Try and power the ski on using the button on the joystick console – if it doesn’t turn on, both batteries have been powered down. If it does still turn on, repeat steps 3-4 again. You can short-press each button and the LED will light up GREEN if it is still powered on, and GREEN then RED if powered off.
(6) Replace the battery door to avoid losing it over the summer!
When you are ready to use the ski again, you’ll repeat this process to power the batteries back on by following these power-up instructions. Remember, the TetraSki will automatically do this on its own after 30 days of non-use, so if you go to turn it on and nothing happens this is likely the culprit.
