Calibrating the joystick & actuator

The Tetraski comes pre-calibrated and no calibration should be necessary unless a component needs to be replaced.

If any of the electronic components on the TetraSki need to be replaced, recalibration of the joystick and actuators should be performed. The calibration menu can be accessed by rapidly pressing the power button six times.

Joystick Calibration

From the calibration menu, double press the power button to enter joystick calibration.

The calibration will start when the joystick is first moved, and will continue for 8 seconds.

Slowly circle the joystick around the entire range of motion. The goal is to find the max/min values of the X and Y axis of the joystick.

When calibration is complete, the ski will enter the debug mode to verify values. Check the max/min X/Y values. These should be greater than +/- 95. Recalibrate if necessary.

Actuator Calibration

Actuator calibration requires the TetraSki to be on a smooth, flat surface with no resistance on the actuators; ideally lifted off the ground.

Triple press from the calibration menu to enter actuator calibration. Verify the ski is unloaded, and double press again to continue.

The actuators will begin moving throughout their range of motion, and recording position values. This process should take approximately 15-20 seconds.

If either actuator appears stuck or is repeatedly running into the end stops, press the power button to cancel, verify there is no resistance, and try again.

Successful calibration will display on the screen when complete.
